Everywhere is War..

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

What life has taught me
I would like to share with
Those who want to learn…

Until the philosophy which hold one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there are no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man’s skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be persued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

- Lyrics from Bob Marley & The Wailers ‘War’ originally appeared on the Rastaman Vibration LP first released in 1976

DJ Chef to hit NZ shores in September

Friday, July 25th, 2008

DJ Chef Christchurch

One like DJ Chefal is hitting our shores early September playing four NZ dates to showcase his trademark Dubplate sound. Chef is employed at Transition Mastering Studios and knows a thing or two about Dubstep dynamics. At just 23 years young he has 10+ years mixing experience under his belt and residencies at top Dubstep clubs DMZ and Forward>> as well as a weekly show on Rinse Fm (Tuesdays 11pm-1am GMT).

Chefal hooked up with Benga and Skream many years back through Big Apple Records (Croydon) and has been the main DJ in the crew, Smooth Kriminals since so Benga and Skream could concentrate on the production side of things but watch out for some beats from Chefal soon. Chefal rinses out the freshet dubz first from everybody who’s sound he’s feeling including… Benga and Skream, Digital Mystikz, Loefah, L.D, Plastician, Cyrus, Tubby, N-Type, Conquest and Silkie, Walsh, Martyn, Burial, Kode 9, Clue Kid and Cotti, Pinch, Jakes, Kutz, Joker, Distance, Hijak, Kromestar n Cessman to name a few.

The main ingredients of Chef’s sets are energy and deep sub basslines whether it’s a half step roller or a 4×4 banger, anything goes. Chefal plays right across the board covering the full Dubstep spectrum, if Chefal likes it he’ll play it, simple. ”I play for the crowd and myself, if I’m not having a good time how can I expect the listeners and ravers to?”
